CIDSAN National Conference Aims To Strengthen Innovation, Ethics In Governance — Ogbuokiri

Chartered Institute of Development Studies and Administration of Nigeria, CIDSAN, says its forthcoming National Conference, will discuss strategies to strengthen innovation and ethics in governance in Nigeria.
National president of the institute, Dr. Elijah Ogbuokiri, who disclosed this at a world press conference at the weekend, said the conference would bring together development scholars, policymakers, corporate leaders, strategic planners, civil society advocates, and global development partners to deliberate and advance strategic pathways for Nigeria’s transformation.
Ogbuokiri said the theme of this year’s conference, ‘Innovation, Ethics and Governance: The Role of Development Studies and Administration Professionals,’ would guide discussants to on strategic measures on how Nigeria could reposition its developmental and governance issues to address unemployment and underdevelopment bedevilling the nation.
“Nigeria’s future will not be determined by sentiments or political rhetoric, but by ethical leadership, responsible governance, and forward-thinking innovation. As development professionals, we must strengthen institutions, drive policy intelligence, and defend ethical administrative standards that support national prosperity. This conference is not just an event — it is a strategic call to action,” Ogbuokiri noted.
The president reiterated that development practice must move beyond theory into measurable impact, especially in a rapidly changing global environment where knowledge, ethics, technology, and institutional discipline drive competitiveness and national stability.
He disclosed thatThis year’s conference would focus on-innovation-driven development and digital governance with MEAL in perspective.
Orhers, axcoedinf ro him, include ethics and anti-corruption frameworks for public and private institutions; strengthening governance systems and leadership capacity, aa well as highlighting the role of the Development Communication in Conflict Management; migration and refugee challenges
According to the president, “Nation-building requires a reliable, ethical and competent development corps, equipped to lead reforms, support government institutions, create policy solutions, and foster equitable economic progress.
“CIDSAN remains committed to building a new cadre of professionals who embody ethics, innovation, and strategic competence. Nigeria needs builders — not spectators. This conference mobilises serious minds ready to shape the development architecture of our nation.”
Also speaking at the conference,
Executive member of CIDSAN,  Mrs Victoria Ochuno, said the theme for the conference was well articulated and concentrating most on Nigeria’smost pressing needs.
“We are looking at three essential pillars for development — sustainable national development,” she said.
“We are saying for society to have meaningful progress, all our actions must centre on innovation driven by solutions.
“We are saying ethics must guide our decisions. We are also saying that governance must form a structure and ensure accountability and fairness.
“When these three pillars are aligned, we will have a structure that will be inclusive. Basically those are things we are looking at achieving at these year’s conference,’ Ochuno added.
